Michelangelo Pistoletto
Born in Biella in 1933, Michelangelo Pistoletto is a leading figure of Arte Povera. Starting with his Mirror Paintings of 1961–1962, which bring the viewer into the work, he has developed a practice that connects art with society. In Biella he created Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto, inaugurated in 1998 to foster responsible social change. Since 2004 he has pursued the Third Paradise project, and in 2015 he created Rebirth in the park of the UN’s Palais des Nations in Geneva.
